The holder of this micro-certificate has completed a micro-certification in Workplace Culture in the Workplace Preparation Program. The module focused on strengthening overall workplace communication skills by developing and practising important workplace social and emotional skills and by improving written and spoken workplace communication through targeted email and voicemail assignments.
Criteria
The micro-certificate holder is able to:
- Understand and be able to apply a variety of Canadian social and cultural norms in context including: the development of effective small talk techniques and an understanding of the importance of small talk in the Canadian workplace
- Recognize the importance of Canadian business etiquette including; hand shaking, exchanging business cards, networking
- Develop an understanding of working in a multi-cultural workplace and knowledge of effective interpersonal communication techniques including: making eye contact, turn taking, active listening, seeking clarification and actively participating in meetings
- Write direct business email messages using a concise and targeted approach
- Leave clear and concise voicemail messages that summarize the topic while providing relevant details
The micro-certificate holder successfully completed assessments providing evidence of effective presentation skills, teamwork, emails, and voice mails.
