This badge is awarded to learners who have demonstrated the ability to create geodatabases, plan for on-site management of assets using mobile applications and asset tracking/inventorying using industry standard applications (e.g., ArcGIS online and other related applications). Learners also will be introduced to other emerging and existing asset management platforms.

All graduates with the following Ontario College credentials, Ontario College Certificate, Ontario College Diploma and Ontario College Advanced Diploma, must be able to reliably demonstrate the Essential Employability Skills required in each of the following six categories: Communication, Numeracy, Critical thinking & problem solving, Information management, Interpersonal and Personal.

Criteria

The recipient of this micro-credential has demonstrated the ability to:

  • Create a GIS based asset management solution using various products (example……)
  • Create a geodatabase and design relationships in the database
  • Configure data layers to allow the attachment of photos for asset-based information collection
  • Select the appropriate data type based on the assets.
  • Evaluate software tools in the ArcGIS system, including mobile and web apps, and apply appropriate tools to solve an organizational need.
  • Develop solutions to asset management issues and present them orally
  • Apply the basic principles of project management to asset management scenarios
  • Present the solution with a demo in front of the class (an audience)

A final assignment in which students will:

Review and understand an asset management problem to develop an effective GIS-based solution to manage and maintain assets. The findings will be presented in class.

And by reflecting on the entire process by:

Completing a reflective essay with prompting options from the instructor
