Criteria
Learning Description: The purpose of this micro-credential is to provide an understanding of maintenance management services for those involved in the property management sector or a related field. It will give a general overview of management systems, such as the principles of residential construction, building science, specification writing, managements' responsibility for the management of life safety systems, contract management and the impact of the Construction Lien Act.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify various building elements and communicate opportunities for improvement utilizing construction terminology.
- Promote public safety by incorporating best practices in landscape design.
- Define electrical components in residential housing and determine opportunities to reduce consumption through tenant engagement strategies and equipment installation and replacement.
- Describe with detail how plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems operate in residential buildings.
- Implement a fire safety program in compliance with legislative requirements.
- Create and implement site-specific preventative maintenance procedures.
- Inspect, assess and document the building condition of interior and exterior building elements.
- Design and implement comprehensive housekeeping services and pest management program.
- Write accurate reports and implement effective project management approaches to ensure building sustainability and positive operating revenue.
- Implement a Workplace Health and Safety program and develop a site-specific Emergency Management Plan.
Learning Assessments: Earners have completed a series of Assignments designed to test application of knowledge in key scenarios. A final test also assesses overall knowledge and understanding of theoretical principles.
