Recipients of the Ontario Extend Scholar badge have examined how they can use their classroom and courses as a research lab to explore how they might improve their teaching practice and positively affect student outcomes and their satisfaction with the overall learning experience in their course. They have considered research about teaching and learning within their discipline and reflected on a process to implement a research plan.
Criteria
Submitted evidence of:
- Providing a definition of SoTL
- Providing problems or questions of teaching practice from their disciplinary area that they would like to research.
- Building a scholarship plan for one of their courses.
- Considering the attributes or indicators of student learning that would address their research question.
- Examining and providing examples of previous scholarship in the identified area of practice.
- Identifying who among their peers could review the study that they will undertake.
- Articulating how they might disseminate the work to others.
- Sharing their research plan through a blog post.
