Essential Employability Skills

Mandated by the Government of Ontario. All graduates with the following Ontario College credentials, Ontario College Certificate, Ontario College Diploma and Ontario College Advanced Diploma, must be able to reliably demonstrate the Essential Employability Skills required in each of the following six categories: Communication, Numeracy, Critical thinking & problem solving, Information management, Interpersonal and Personal.

Criteria

The recipient of this micro-credential has demonstrated the ability to:

  • Function as scrum team member participating in daily stand-ups and weekly sprints.
  • Collaborate and communicate across a virtual organizing team with over 40 members and 5 functional units.
  • Contribute valuable content to challenge sets by collaborating with industry partners, analyzing their business problems, communicating these to the participant community and acting as liaison between the participants and mentors.
  • Apply technology to assist, monitor, and control the collaboration between student members, teams, mentors, partners, and judges.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner with all stakeholders.

By providing the following as evidence:

  • Successful hackathon project which enhanced the innovation reputation of college
  • Detailed activity plans and schedules
  • Relevant content used on websites, social media, collaboration, and communication system
  • Scrum and retrospective reports/ lessons learned.
