
Cannabis in the Adult-Use Market
Criteria
The recipient of this badge successfully completed an intensive two-day course (attended either in-class or synchronously online) on cannabis, in the adult-use market in Canada. Through the course, the badge recipient developed familiarity with the differences between medical and adult-use/recreational cannabis markets relating to cannabis in Canada. In addition, the student established an understanding of adult-use/recreational products and services, home growing, derivatives and proposed rules including for cannabis edibles. Packaging requirements were also explored, cannabis market segmentation, brand positioning, cannabis product marketing, advertising and promotions; The federal, provincial/territorial distribution markets and responsibilities were also reviewed as well as retail regulations, related license requirements, the OCS (Ontario Cannabis Store) and the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario). Adult-use cannabis regulations were compared to those for other drugs, the social and industrial impacts of adult-use cannabis were also studied. Employment opportunities in the adult-use/recreational market and training on where might the industry be headed were also explored.
